- The upper age limits already include category relaxation. PwBD, ex-servicemen and J&K-domiciled (1980–89) candidates get extra relaxation as per rules.
- B.E./B.Tech must be a 4-year course; Master's and diplomas 2 years; other degrees 3 years.
- Experience counts only after the qualifying degree. Bring experience letters, role details and two proofs (salary slip, Form 16, offer letter etc.).
- CA/CMA candidates without the membership certificate cannot apply.
Selection Process
Grade B and C posts (Mechanical, Petroleum, Accounts, Research Scientist)

Grade A posts (Hindi Officer, Confidential Secretary)
- CBT of 100 marks, 1½ hours — the final merit is on CBT marks only.
- Shortlisted candidates take a qualifying proficiency / skill test.
After selection there is a medical examination at OIL Hospital, Duliajan. Grade B officers sign a 3-year service bond (not for Accounts posts).
Posting
Most vacancies are for the Field Headquarters at Duliajan, Assam, but OIL can post selected candidates to any of its operational areas or offices, and the jobs are transferable.
