Sainik School Ghorakhal (Uttarakhand): Seats for 2027-28
Tentative vacancies from Appendix VI-A and VI-A1 of the Information Bulletin:
| Class | Seats |
| Class VI | Boys, home state (Uttarakhand): 49 Boys, other states: 21 Girls, home state: 5 Girls, other states: 5 Total: 80 |

"Home state" means the child is domiciled in the state where the school is. So for Ghorakhal, children with an Uttarakhand domicile compete for the home-state seats. The bulletin lists no approved New Sainik School in Uttarakhand.
Reservation in Sainik Schools
- 67% of seats are for children domiciled in the state where the school is, and 33% for other states and UTs.
- Within each quota: SC 15%, ST 7.5% and OBC-NCL 27% (central list only).
- Of the remaining seats, 25% go to wards of serving defence personnel and ex-servicemen.
- In Class VI, 10% of the strength or 10 seats (whichever is higher) are reserved for girls.
- Wards of Coast Guard and Assam Rifles personnel should not choose the Defence category.
- OBC families on the state list but not on the central OBC-NCL list must choose General.
New Sainik Schools follow their own admission rules: at least 40% of seats are filled from the All-India AISSEE merit list, and up to 60% from their own students.

Exam Centres in Uttarakhand

How to Apply
- Open the AISSEE 2027 application portal (also linked on exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society).
- Register with a valid mobile number and email, and note the application number and password.
- Fill in the form: child's details, class, school(s) opted for, category, domicile state, exam medium (Class VI) and exam cities.
- Upload the photo, signature and other documents asked for in the form.
- Pay the fee (₹850 or ₹700) by card, net banking or UPI by 2 December 2026, and print the confirmation page.
Choose the domicile state carefully: it decides whether the child counts as "home state" for a school. You can change details only in the correction window (7–9 December).
After the Exam
Admission is by e-counselling on the rank in the school-wise, class-wise, gender-wise and category-wise merit list, followed by a medical examination and document check. After the result, candidates must register again on the Sainik Schools Society e-counselling portal using their AISSEE application number.
