Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi has released Advertisement No. 03/2026-2027 for 11 non-teaching posts at its Computer Center: System Engineer, Maintenance Engineer (Junior), Computer Operator Grade-I, AC Operator, Laboratory Attendant and Workshop Attendant. Apply online by 25 November 2026 (5 PM), then send the printed form with enclosures so that it reaches BHU by 30 November 2026 (5 PM).

Educational Qualification and Experience

Post	What you need
System Engineer	One of these, each with at least 55% or equivalent grade: M.Tech/M.E./M.S. (CS, IT or ECE) with 5 years' experience; or B.Tech/B.E. (CS, IT or ECE), MCA, or M.Sc CS (with B.Sc CS) with 7 years; or M.Sc (CS/IT) with B.Sc in any science subject and 8 years. Also experience at an industry or university-level computer centre in servers, storage, backup, Linux/Unix, databases and networks.
Maintenance Engineer (Junior)	B.E./B.Tech (ECE or CSE) with at least 55% or equivalent grade, and 5 years' experience in network administration and computer hardware, including massive UPS systems and centralised air-conditioning plants, or in systems management or maintenance of a large campus network.
Computer Operator Grade-I	With at least 55% or equivalent grade: B.Sc Computer Science, or BCA, or B.Sc with PGDCA.
AC Operator	ITI (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning) from an NCVT/SCVT accredited ITI, and 2 years' experience in operating and maintaining air-conditioning plants, including VRV systems of over 500 TR, at a university, research body, government office, PSU or autonomous body.
Laboratory Attendant	Intermediate with science, and a computer hardware certificate course of at least 6 months from a recognised institution.
Workshop Attendant	High School; ITI in Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Welder or Wireman trade from an NCVT/SCVT accredited ITI; and 1 year's experience in the trade with a state government, statutory or autonomous body, university or a reputed private organisation with an annual turnover of at least ₹50 crore.

Eligibility is checked as on the last date and time of the online application.

Age Relaxation

SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates get relaxation under Government of India reservation policy.
Ex-servicemen get relaxation under Government of India rules.
There is no age bar for permanent BHU employees.
Project, contract or daily-wage service at BHU may count for age relaxation in Group B and C posts, if one stretch is over 6 months.

Selection Process

Written test and skill test: BHU will announce the syllabus later.
Screening: if applications are high, BHU can shortlist using higher qualifications, experience or other criteria. Meeting the minimum eligibility does not guarantee a call.
Document verification: shortlisted candidates bring their originals.
Group C weightage: BHU's daily-wage and contractual staff get 4% marks for each year of service, up to 20%, in the written and skill test, if they meet the eligibility conditions.
