The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) will hold the 1st Stage CBT (CBT-I) for RRB JE 2026 (CEN No. 04/2026) on 27 and 28 October 2026. The exam city intimation slip is now live (notice of 17 October 2026) on the official RRB websites, and e-call letters (admit cards) can be downloaded about 4 days before your exam date.
This recruitment is for 4,029 posts of Junior Engineer, Depot Material Superintendent (DMS) and Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA) at Level 6 (₹35,400 initial pay). Applications closed on 13 September 2026. All details below are from the official CEN 04/2026, its corrigendum and the RRB notices dated 16 September, 2 October, 7 October and 17 October 2026.

The 30 October date given in the first notice has been dropped; CBT-I is now only on 27 and 28 October.
How to Check the City Slip and Download the Admit Card
- Open the official website of the RRB you applied to (via rrb.indianrailways.gov.in).
- Click the CEN 04/2026 "Exam City & Date Intimation" link and log in with your registration number and date of birth.
- Note your exam city and date. SC/ST candidates can download the free travel authority from the same link.
- About 4 days before that date, download the e-call letter from the same website.
Aadhaar is compulsory on exam day: Aadhaar-linked biometric verification is done at the centre. Bring your original Aadhaar card or a printout of e-verified Aadhaar, and make sure your Aadhaar is unlocked in the UIDAI system. Helpdesk: 9513166371 (Monday–Saturday, 9 AM–6 PM).

- Negative marking: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum qualifying marks: UR and EWS 40%, OBC-NCL and SC 30%, ST 25% (2 marks relaxation for PwBD if needed).
- CBT-I is a screening test. Up to 15 times the community-wise vacancies of each RRB are shortlisted for CBT-II on normalised marks.

Vacancy Update (Corrigendum-1)
- The original CEN had 3,993 JE and DMS posts.
- 1 additional post of JE/Electrical/TRS was added under RRB Secunderabad.
- 35 posts of Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (Level 6, ₹35,400, age 18–33) were added.
Exam Fee Refund
Candidates who appear in CBT-I get a refund of ₹400 (General) or ₹250 (SC/ST/women/other concession categories), minus bank charges, to their Aadhaar-linked bank account.
