Selection Process
Stage I — Computer-based exam
100 objective questions of 1 mark each, in Hindi and English. Duration: 1 hour. No negative marking.
Passing marks: 40 for UR, EWS and OBC; 35 for SC and ST. Scores are normalised if the exam is held in several shifts.
Bring your original ID (the one you uploaded), a printout of the e-admit card and 2 passport-size photos. Biometrics (left thumb) are captured, so avoid mehndi or wax on your hands.
Stage II — At ICG recruitment centres (1–2 days)
PFT | 1.6 km run | Squats (uthak-baithak) | Push-ups | Bent-knee sit-ups |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Male | 6 min 30 sec | 20 | 15 | 15 |
Female | 8 min | 15 | 10 | 10 |
All four PFT events are done continuously, without a break. Any break means you fail.
After the PFT comes an Assessment & Adaptability Test (online or OMR). It is qualifying only, and its marks are used just to break ties.
Then come document verification and the recruitment medical. If you are declared unfit, you can appeal at a designated military hospital within 14 days.
To get the Stage II admit card, you must upload extra documents and pick your date and centre, first come first served, within the time given.
Final merit, Stage III and Stage IV
Merit is based only on Stage I marks, provided you qualify all parts of Stage II. If marks are tied, the older candidate ranks higher, and then the one with higher assessment test marks.
Stage III is held at INS Chilka (Odisha). It covers an Aadhaar-based identity check, where changes made in the last 2 years are scrutinised, plus document verification and the pre-enrolment medical. You must bring a police verification obtained after the last date of application.
Stage IV is the verification of your documents with the boards and universities that issued them, even after you join.

Documents and Tips for Uttarakhand Candidates
Navik (GD) male applicants must upload a valid domicile certificate while applying, because it decides their zone. Where a state issues both domicile and residence certificates, only the domicile certificate is accepted. Candidates from Uttarakhand should keep their sthayi niwas (domicile) certificate ready.
Candidates for the other posts upload a domicile certificate only if they want the height relaxation, which Garhwal and Kumaon candidates should claim.
Upload Aadhaar as your first ID if you have one. At Stage III, Aadhaar and a mobile number linked to it are compulsory for the bank account and pension account.
All documents must be issued on or before 21 October 2026 and stay valid until at least 31 December 2027. Category certificates must carry the same address as your application.
Remember your registered email and mobile number. They are shown encrypted later and cannot be recovered.
