Eligibility
The notification states that qualifications, pay scales and other conditions follow UGC Regulations 2018, AICTE Regulations 2019 (engineering) and UP Government rules. In short, the usual UGC 2018 requirements are:

Engineering posts follow AICTE 2019 norms. Always confirm the exact requirement for your department in the UGC/AICTE regulations and the university’s detailed instructions.
- Ph.D. holders from foreign universities must attach an Equivalence Certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), unless the Ph.D. was under MHRD’s Foreign Scholarship Programme.
- Candidates already in service must submit a No Objection Certificate; without it they cannot appear in the interview.
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) and EWS certificates must be in the UP Government format and issued on or after 1 March 2026; SC/ST candidates must attach the UP-format caste certificate.
Salary
Pay is as per UGC 7th Pay Commission scales adopted by the UP Government. Under these scales the entry pay is typically ₹57,700 (Academic Level 10) for Assistant Professor, ₹1,31,400 (Level 13A) for Associate Professor and ₹1,44,200 (Level 14) for Professor, plus allowances. Service conditions and retirement age follow UP Government norms.

Assistant Professor
- Scrutiny committee checks applications and calculates the Academic and API score (Table 3 below).
- Written objective test of 40 marks in the subject. Syllabus: NET syllabus for sciences, humanities and social sciences; GATE for engineering; GPAT for pharmacy.
- A consolidated merit list (academic score + written test) is used to shortlist for Phase II.
- Phase II: teaching skills presentation (including the ability to take online classes) and interview. Final selection needs at least 50% (15 of 30 marks) in Phase II. Music candidates also take a music skill test.
- Candidates get at least 7 days to object to the academic score and 3 days to object to the written test score.
Associate Professor and Professor
- Academic and API/Research score (UGC 2018, Appendix II, Table 2) for shortlisting, with a cut-off of at least 50% of the total score. Research papers count only in publications considered for NIRF.
- Interview by the Selection Committee (Music candidates first clear a music skill test).
A waiting list of up to two candidates is kept for one year.

M.Phil. + Ph.D. together count for at most 30 marks, JRF/NET/SET for at most 7 and awards for at most 3. SLET/SET counts only for UP universities and colleges. The total is scaled down to 30%. For Associate Professor and Professor, the research score is capped and scaled to a maximum of 50.

- Upload scanned PDFs: a single merged PDF of mark sheets and degrees; the first page of each research paper with journal impact-factor proof; merged files for projects, patents, awards and consultancy; other documents in the “Other” section. Enter whole numbers rather than decimals or fractions where asked.
- Pay ₹2,500 (₹2,000 for SC/ST) online and submit by 31 October 2026. Entries cannot be changed after final submission.
- Print the application, sign every page, attach copies of all certificates and send it by registered/speed post to: The Registrar, Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kalyanpur, Kanpur – 208024 (UP). Write on the envelope: “Application for the post of <Name & Discipline of the post>”, along with the advertisement number and department. It must reach by 5 November 2026.
Incomplete applications, or those without documents or fee, are rejected. All documents are verified with the issuing authority; any false document leads to termination even after appointment.
