Why the Recruitment Was Stopped and Restarted

On 23 December 2022, UPSSSC put all selection work for this advertisement on hold. The reason was a set of Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) cases about the Moharir post. They were writ petitions of Rajesh Kumar, Sarita Singh and Ram Baran Saroj, and the special appeals filed against the orders in them (Special Appeal Defective 514/2018, 513/2018 and 275/2019).

The High Court passed an order in those special appeals on 18 March 2026. After reviewing it, the commission announced on 20 July 2026 that it would go ahead with the selection. It also published the Main Exam scheme and syllabus, which the government had approved back in January 2023.
