UKPSC Tax and Revenue Inspector Recruitment 2026 — 29 Posts, Eligibility, Exam Pattern & Syllabus

The Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) is recruiting for 29 posts of Tax and Revenue Inspector in the Uttarakhand Palika (Centralised) Revenue Service under the Urban Development Department (Advertisement No. A-1/DR(TRI)/S-2/2026, dated 15 July 2026). Because of heavy rain and network problems in the hill districts, the commission extended the last date from 4 August to 18 August 2026. The application window is now closed. The exam date and admit card are expected next on psc.uk.gov.in.

Selection is based on a written objective exam only (300 marks, no interview). Since 55 of the 200 General Studies marks are on Uttarakhand and 20 marks are on urbanisation, this page also gives the full topic-wise syllabus to help registered candidates prepare.

The extension was announced in UKPSC notice No. 73/07/DR/Seva-02/2025-26 dated 7 August 2026. All other conditions of the advertisement remain unchanged.

Vacancy Details

Other horizontal reservations: Uttarakhand orphan children 1 (UR), skilled sportspersons 1 (UR) and identified state agitators or their dependants 2 (1 SC, 1 UR). There is no post reserved for ex-servicemen, freedom-fighter dependants or PwD. However, the post is identified for the PwD sub-categories OA, OL, LV/PB, HH/PD, Deaf, Lc, Dw and AAV/AV, and such candidates can compete for unreserved posts. Vacancies may change.

Eligibility

Educational qualification

• Essential: a bachelor's degree from a university established by law in India.
• Preference: at least two years' service in the Territorial Army, or an NCC "B" or "C" certificate.
• The qualification must be held by the last date. Its date is taken from the marksheet issue date or result declaration date.

Uttarakhand Group C condition

Like all UKPSC Group C posts, a candidate must meet any one of these conditions:

• Passed High School and Intermediate (or equivalent) from recognised institutions in Uttarakhand; or
• Name registered in an employment office in Uttarakhand (not needed for those already in state government service); or
• The candidate, their spouse or parent is a regular employee of the armed or paramilitary forces, the state government, or the central government or a central PSU, posted in Uttarakhand in a non-transferable service; or
• The candidate or their spouse or parent is a permanent resident of Uttarakhand living outside the state for work or study.

Age limit and relaxation

Minimum 21 and maximum 42 years on 1 July 2026, which means born between 2 July 1984 and 1 July 2005. The date of birth in the High School certificate is the only one accepted.

Reservation and age relaxation apply only to candidates domiciled in Uttarakhand. Candidates from other states may apply in the unreserved category. The EWS certificate must be based on income for 2025-26 and valid for 2026-27, and an OBC certificate is valid for three years from its date of issue.

Exam Pattern

• Objective questions with four options. One-quarter of the marks for a question is deducted for a wrong answer, and marking more than one option counts as wrong. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.
• If the Hindi and English versions differ, the English version is treated as correct.
• Calculators and other calculating devices are not allowed.
• The merit list is prepared from the written exam marks. There is no interview.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates in horizontal categories (women, ex-servicemen, sportspersons and so on) must meet the qualifying marks of their main category.

Syllabus

Paper I — General Hindi (100 marks)

Paper II — General Studies (200 marks)

Preparation tip: Uttarakhand topics (55 marks) and urbanisation (20 marks) together make up more than a third of Paper II. These topics are directly linked to municipal tax and revenue work, so they deserve extra time.

Exam Cities

The exam is held at the 13 district headquarters: Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat, Gopeshwar (Chamoli), Dehradun, Haridwar, Haldwani (Nainital), Srinagar (Pauri Garhwal), Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, New Tehri, Rudrapur (Udham Singh Nagar) and Uttarkashi. The commission tries to allot the chosen city but may assign another. Requests to change the centre are not accepted. Candidates who use a scribe sit the exam at the commission's exam building in Haridwar.

Admit Card and Answer Key

• Admit cards are not sent by post. Download yours from psc.uk.gov.in using your registration number and date of birth. The commission announces the release in newspapers and on its website.
• Carry the photo ID mentioned in your application. Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices and similar items are banned, and using them can lead to a ban from future UKPSC exams.
• Answer key objections happen in two stages. In the first stage, the Series A question paper is published, and you can object to the wording of questions or options within 7 days at no cost. In the second stage, the provisional answer key is published, and you can challenge answers within 7 days for ₹50 per question. Objections are accepted online only.

Documents for Verification

Candidates who qualify the written exam must bring two self-attested sets of the following:

• The online application form
• Your High School certificate
• Your degree and final-year marksheet
• Reservation certificates in the prescribed formats
• Your domicile certificate, if applicable
• A No Objection Certificate from your employer, if you are in government service
• Proof of the Group C eligibility condition you selected
• Two recent photographs and a photo ID

Missing or contradictory documents lead to disqualification.
