How to Calculate Your Score

PartSubjectQuestionsMarks
AGeneral Intelligence2550
BGeneral Awareness2550
CQuantitative Aptitude2550
DEnglish Language2550
Total (60 minutes)100200
  • Each correct answer earns 2 marks, and each wrong answer loses 0.50 marks. Unattempted questions earn zero.
  • Formula: Score = (correct × 2) − (wrong × 0.5). For example, 70 correct and 16 wrong gives 140 − 8 = 132 out of 200.
  • Because the exam was held in many shifts, final marks will be normalised, so your actual score may differ slightly from your own calculation.

Minimum Qualifying Marks and Shortlisting

CategoryMinimum marks to be considered
Unreserved (UR)30%
OBC / EWS25%
Other categories20%
  • Among those who clear the minimum, SSC shortlists candidates for document scrutiny in the ratio 1:30 for posts with up to 5 vacancies, and 1:15 (minimum 150 candidates) for posts with more than 5 vacancies. All qualifying PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates are shortlisted for vacancies reserved for them.
  • Shortlisted candidates must upload self-attested copies of their education, experience, category and age documents on the SSC website after the result. Missing this step leads to rejection.
  • Document verification is done by the user department of each post, not SSC, so watch both the SSC regional office website and your email and SMS.
  • If total scores are tied, SSC uses normalised marks, then Part A, Part B and Part C marks, then age (older first), then alphabetical order.
