National Insurance Company Limited (NICL), a Government of India undertaking, has announced the recruitment of 321 Administrative Officers (Scale I). There are 200 posts for Generalists and 121 for Specialists in Finance, Legal, IT, Automobile, Risk Engineering, Company Secretary and Agriculture. Online registration runs from 8 October to 28 October 2026 on nationalinsurance.nic.co.in. The Phase-I exam is on 17 November 2026 and Phase-II on 22 December 2026.
The starting basic pay is ₹82,485, and total emoluments are about ₹1,14,000 a month in metro centres. Any graduate with 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PwBD) aged 21–30 can apply for the Generalist posts. Vacancies are provisional. You can apply for only one discipline. If you apply more than once, only your latest completed application is kept, and any fee you paid for the others is lost. There is no reservation for ex-servicemen in the officer cadre, although they do get age relaxation. OBC candidates in the creamy layer, or whose caste is not on the Central list, must apply as UR.

- For every discipline you need at least 60% marks in either your graduation or post-graduation, or 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.
- The percentage is your total marks across all semesters divided by the total maximum marks, with no rounding up. For example, 59.99% counts as less than 60%. If your university gives CGPA, bring a conversion certificate from the university.
- Your result must have been declared on or before 1 October 2026. Final-year students whose results came later are not eligible.
Age Limit and Relaxation
You must be 21 to 30 years old on 1 October 2026, which means born between 2 October 1996 and 1 October 2005.

If you qualify for more than one relaxation, they can be added together, but your age cannot go above 45 years.

You must pass every section. About 15 times the number of vacancies in each category are called for Phase-II. Prelims marks are not counted in the final merit.

- Descriptive English test (30 marks, 30 minutes, typed on a computer): essay 10, précis 10 and comprehension 10. It is qualifying only and is checked only for candidates who pass the objective test.
- Negative marking: ¼ of the marks for each wrong answer in both phases. Unanswered questions carry no penalty.
- All questions are bilingual (English and Hindi) except the English sections.
- Final merit is Mains objective marks (80%) plus Interview (20%). If scores are tied, the candidate with higher interview marks ranks above, and then the older candidate.

The choice of centre is final, but NICL may move you to another centre. Biometric data (thumb impression), an iris scan and a photo are taken at the Main exam, so wash off any mehndi or ink and do not wear contact lenses or eye make-up.
Service Conditions You Should Know
- Posting anywhere in India, with a minimum of 5 years at your first posting. Specialists may have to stay in their specialisation for 10 years. Company Secretaries are posted at the Head Office in Kolkata.
- Probation of 1 year, which can be extended up to 2 years. During this time you must pass the Insurance Institute of India's non-life Licentiate exam, or your services can be terminated.
- Bond: you must serve for at least 4 years. If you leave earlier, you pay up to one year's gross salary, backed by a bond with two sureties. If you resign during probation, you repay all the salary you received plus ₹25,000 towards training.
- Benefits include NPS pension, gratuity, medical benefits, LTS, group personal accident insurance and company or leased accommodation as per norms.
How to Apply
- Prepare scans of your photo (20–50 KB), signature (10–20 KB), left thumb impression (20–50 KB) and a hand-written declaration in English (50–100 KB, not in capital letters). The text of the declaration is given in the advertisement.
- Go to nationalinsurance.nic.co.in → Recruitment → Apply Online → New Registration.
- Fill in your details exactly as they appear in your certificates, upload the documents and capture a live photo with a webcam or phone.
- Preview, click Complete Registration, pay the fee and print the e-receipt and application form by 28 October 2026.
Nothing can be changed after you complete the registration. SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/PwBD candidates can choose free online pre-exam training on the form.
Documents for the Interview
- Interview call letter and printout of the online application
- Proof of date of birth (Class 10 certificate or birth certificate)
- Original photo ID and a photocopy. A ration card or learner's licence is not accepted.
- Class 10, Class 12 and degree marksheets and certificates, plus proof that your result was declared by 1 October 2026
- SC/ST/OBC certificate in the central format. The OBC-NCL certificate must be based on income for FY 2023-24 to 2025-26, issued after 31 March 2026, and must come with a declaration.
- EWS Income & Asset certificate for FY 2025-26, issued after 31 March 2026
- PwBD certificate and UDID card, if applicable
- No Objection Certificate, if you work in government, a PSU or a bank
