The ISRO Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB) has postponed the Computer Based Test (CBT) for Scientist/Engineer 'SC' recruitment under Advertisement No. ISRO:ICRB:03(EMC):2026. The CBT was set for 19 October 2026 and will now be held on 29 October 2026 (Thursday). The recruitment is for 175 posts for BE/B.Tech graduates in Electronics, Mechanical and Computer Science, at Level 10 with a starting basic pay of ₹56,100.

Online applications closed on 16 September 2026. Call letters for the CBT are sent only by email to the address given in the form, so check your inbox and spam folder. Dehradun is one of the 37 CBT venues, which helps candidates from Uttarakhand. All details below are from the official ISRO advertisement dated 27 August 2026 and the ISRO careers page.

The ISRO centre posts are Group 'A' Gazetted. The three PRL (Physical Research Laboratory) posts are Group 'A' Non-Gazetted. Some posts are reserved for PwBD candidates, several of them as backlog vacancies. Vacancies are tentative and may change through a corrigendum.

Eligibility (for reference)

  • Qualification: BE/B.Tech or equivalent in Electronics & Communication, Mechanical or Computer Science Engineering with at least 65% aggregate or CGPA 6.84/10. Allied disciplines that are accepted are listed in ISRO's FAQ.
  • You must have completed the degree within the normal course duration.
  • If your degree shows only CGPA, the CGPA must meet the limit. Converting CGPA to a percentage is not allowed, even if your university gives a formula. If it shows both, either one meeting the limit is enough.
  • Age: up to 28 years as on 16 September 2026. Central government employees, ex-servicemen and PwBD candidates get relaxation as per government rules.

  • Qualifying marks: 50% in each of Part A and Part B for unreserved candidates, and 40% each for PwBD candidates on reserved posts.
  • Candidates are shortlisted for interview at a 1:5 ratio, with at least 10 candidates per post.
  • ISRO has put the 2023 and 2025 question papers for all three disciplines on its careers page. They are the best practice material for the next three weeks.

  • Within academic achievements, you get 3 marks for an IIT, IISc, IIST, NIT or NIRF top-20 institute. CGPA of 9 or more (85%+) earns 4 marks, and 7.5–9 (71–85%) earns 2. A rank of 1 to 3 from your institute earns 3 marks.
  • To be selected you need 50% in the CBT, 50% in the interview and 60% aggregate. For PwBD candidates the figures are 40%, 40% and 50%.
  • The final panel gives 50% weightage to CBT marks and 50% to interview marks. Ties are broken by CBT marks, then degree marks, then the older candidate.
  • There is no TA for the CBT. For the interview, ISRO reimburses a second-class train fare. Employed candidates must bring an original NOC to the interview.

ICRB may change a venue and reallot candidates.

Pay and Benefits

Selected candidates join as Scientist/Engineer 'SC' at Level 10, with a minimum basic pay of ₹56,100 a month, plus DA, HRA and transport allowance. Benefits include the New Pension Scheme, medical facilities for you and your dependants, LTC, group insurance, house building advance and limited quarters. You can be posted to any ISRO/DOS centre in India.

Fee Refund After the CBT

All candidates paid a ₹750 processing fee. The refund goes only to those who appear in the CBT, into the bank account given in the form:

  • Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates get the full ₹750 back.
  • Everyone else gets ₹500 back, after a deduction of ₹250.

Not appearing means no refund.
