The stream you enter in the form must exactly match the name on your degree or marksheet, or your candidature will be cancelled. Vacancies are tentative. Recommended candidates who fall outside their stream's vacancies may be offered the SSC (Tech) course of October 2027, if vacancies are left there.

Eligibility

Nationality

A citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who migrated from certain listed countries to settle permanently in India. Candidates in the last two categories need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India, except Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Age limit

20 to 27 years on 1 July 2027, which means born between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2007, both dates included. Only the date of birth in your Class 10 (matriculation) certificate is accepted.

Educational qualification

  • BE/B.Tech in one of the notified engineering streams, or M.Sc Computer Science.
  • The degree must be from a recognised Indian university or institution. Degrees from foreign countries are not accepted.
  • Final-year students can apply. They must submit proof of passing, with all semester marksheets, by 1 July 2027, and the degree certificate within 12 weeks of the start of training. Final-year candidates whose result comes out after 1 July 2027 are not eligible.
  • Final-year candidates appear in the SSB provisionally. Their cumulative percentage up to the 6th semester (or 3rd year) must meet the cut-off, and the final cumulative percentage must also meet it after the result.
  • Candidates must be unmarried. Marriage after applying, or during training, leads to cancellation or discharge.

Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting A stream-wise cut-off on your cumulative degree percentage
  2. Choose SSB date Shortlisted candidates pick an SSB centre and date online, first come first served
  3. SSB interview A two-stage, five-day interview at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru or Jalandhar
  4. Medical and merit Medical test for recommended candidates, then a stream-wise merit list on SSB marks
  • CGPA conversion: convert CGPA or grades to marks using your own university's formula when you fill in the form. If the percentage your university gives falls below the cut-off, do not report for the SSB, even if you were shortlisted on the marks you entered.
  • Candidates who fail Stage-1 of the SSB go home the same day. The call-up letter comes only by email and SMS.
  • If SSB marks are tied, the older candidate ranks higher, and then the one with the higher degree percentage.
  • Candidates attending the SSB for the first time for this type of commission get AC-III tier rail fare both ways.
