The Directorate General Assam Rifles, Shillong has announced the Assam Rifles Technical and Tradesman Recruitment Rally 2026. It has 354 Group C posts across 17 trades, including Warrant Officer (Cipher), Rifleman (Electrical Fitter Signal), Armourer, Vehicle Mechanic, Mason and Physiotherapist. The posts are for male candidates only. Apply online at assamrifles.gov.in from 28 September to 28 October 2026 (11:59 PM). The rally starts on 23 November 2026 at Jorhat or Diphu in Assam.

Most trades need Class 10 plus a 2-year ITI in the matching trade, or a 3-year diploma. The Warrant Officer posts need Class 12. Candidates from Uttarakhand should note one point: Garhwalis and Kumaonis get a lower minimum height of 165 cm instead of 170 cm, but only with a category certificate from the competent authority. Vacancies are filled on an all-India basis for each category, with no state-wise quota. Even so, you must upload a Domicile / Permanent Residence Certificate, and the state you enter in the form cannot be changed later. 10% of the posts in most trades are reserved for ex-servicemen. You can apply for only one trade, and the trade or category cannot be changed at any stage.

Age relaxation

  • SC/ST: 5 years · OBC: 3 years
  • Ex-servicemen: 3 years (UR), 6 years (OBC) or 8 years (SC/ST) after deducting military service from actual age
  • Serving Assam Rifles personnel (departmental candidates): up to 40 years, in the trades listed in the notice, with an NOC from their unit

Your date of birth and name are taken only from your Class 10 certificate. Requests to change them later are not accepted.

Weight must be in proportion to height and age as per medical standards. To claim the Garhwali or Kumaoni relaxation, bring a category certificate in the prescribed format from the competent authority to the PST. ST candidates must bring a valid ST certificate. PST applies to all trades except the Operation Theatre Technician, Physiotherapist and Draughtsman posts, as listed in the notice.

Selection Process

  1. RFID-based PST and PET at Jorhat or Diphu (Assam), with initial document checks. PET: a 5 km run in 24 minutes (Ladakh region: 1.6 km in 7 minutes).
  2. Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 marks. Pass marks are 35% for General/EWS and 33% for SC, ST and OBC.
  3. Trade Skill Test: a computer test plus a practical test in your trade. It is qualifying only. Candidates are shortlisted at about 4 times the vacancies in each trade and category, based on CBT merit.
  4. Document Verification and Detailed Medical Examination (DME), with a Review Medical (RME) for those declared unfit.
  5. Merit list by trade and category, followed by joining instructions for training.

Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets are not allowed at the rally site.

Application Fee

  • ₹100 for UR, OBC and EWS candidates. It can be paid online through the link on the form, or at any SBI branch into the account given in the notice (HQ DGAR, Recruitment Branch, Shillong).
  • No fee for SC, ST and ex-servicemen.
  • Upload the receipt or challan with the form, and carry the original to the PST/PET. The fee is not refundable.

How to Apply

  1. Go to assamrifles.gov.in and click Online Application.
  2. Fill in your details exactly as they appear in your Class 10 certificate. Choose one trade, and upload your domicile certificate and your caste or EWS certificate if applicable.
  3. Give your own working email and mobile number. The mobile number must not be on DND, because all rally updates come only by email and SMS.
  4. Pay the fee and upload the receipt, then check every field. No correction is allowed after submission.
  5. Print the completed form. Bring it signed, with a copy of your Class 10 marksheet, to the rally.

Things to Know Before You Apply

  • The EWS certificate must be for 2025-26, based on income for FY 2024-25.
  • The probation period is 2 years. If you leave during training, you must repay the full training cost and the pay and allowances you received.
  • No TA/DA is paid for attending any stage. Candidates take part at their own risk.
  • Pay and allowances are as applicable to Assam Rifles personnel. The notice does not give pay levels.
